The United Arab Emirates (UAE) conformity assessment programs are implemented by the Emirates Authority for Standards and Metrology (ESMA). ESMA implements two types of conformity assessment schemes: The Emirates Conformity Assessment Scheme (ECAS) for specific categories of products requiring a Certificate of Conformity, such certificates are required before releasing shipments of subjected goods upon arrival, The Emirates Quality Mark (EQM) scheme, which is both a voluntary and mandatory scheme (for certain beverages) establishing requirements to license a product to use the Quality Mark - EQM.
